Just starting Photography

I am looking to get into photography. I found a good deal on a Nikon D80. From what I have read that is a pretty good camera. Any personal experience with it would be appreciated. Also, are there any other cameras you might recommend for a beginner.

Thanks for the info! Can you recommend a couple of lens (I guess that is going to depend on what I shoot though) I will mostly be shooting outdoor scenery, fishing, beaches, Florida stuff.

manaheim - Somewhere in the 150-250 range.

reality - thanks for the complements! I'm hoping to make them better with a higher quality camera.

I would look at the two kit lenses that often come with the Nikons, the 18-55 and the 50ish-200. This will give you a fairly wide range of focus lengths to work with and stay within your budget.

Ideally, I'd prefer to see a new person get the 18-135 and just stick with a single lens initially, but it's quite a bit more money... like $350ish last I checked. The D80 with the 18-135 as a kit is about $1K total I believe.

Logan im also a P&S guy whos just made the move to SLR. I got my D80 yesterday. Its my favorite new toy. All my free time goes to researching info & shooting. A good search and you'll find all the info you can handle.
