Go with the 24-70 2.8L! I have it mounted on my 7D most of the time and it is a fantastic lens. The IQ couldn't be better for a zoom.

I don't remember him asking for opinions on what a Nikon shooter thought was "more professional."

If you don't know enough about the 7D and the 5D Mark II, you wouldn't know that they're two entirely different beasts used for different things.

What?

First of all, ND filters are a totally different thing... So by using "N" as the variable that would be the first thing to throw everyone off.

If you're talking about the Canon product line... Like the 1D, 5D, and 7D... Canon U.S.A. : Consumer & Home Office : Digital SLR Cameras The top row is all xD series.

It depends what you shoot and what you do with the images you shoot.

If you shoot birds or sports mostly and don't want to print gigantic prints, then go with the 7D and save some coin. The much much better AF system and extra reach of the crop factor will be useful.

If you want large prints or shoot mostly in low light, go with the 5D. The better noise at high ISO and the higher resolution will provide better results.

I don't know about the OP, but when I post a question like this, I sometimes like to get answers like this, that make me think outside of my original question. I don't always just want the most literal answer.

It is not classy to put other members down, especially when they're just trying to help. By all means, point out if you think they're wrong and why, but remember how you like to be spoken to.

No one (at least no one I'd want to be associated with) thinks you're cool because you make yourself feel better by putting others down or trying to minimize their opinons. It is just classic inferiority complex.

You also might take note of where a person is from before ripping into their word choice. If he is in Malaysia, it is quite possible that English is not his first language.

EchoingWhisper has an extremely solid grasp on the English language, I'd know this because I've read a lot of his posts. You wouldn't even know that English is not his first language, especially compared to some of the people from the US that post here. He uses capital letters, supports his claims (usually), and makes complete sentences.

There's nothing wrong with what I pointed out, and it's entirely truthful. People purchasing cameras in the xD Canon line are not concerned with "what is more professional," they're concerned with results (unless they're blindly throwing money at a Camera). The two cameras are ENTIRELY different, for different purposes. It's not about which one gives the "illusion of professionalism," it's about what will work best for what the OP shoots.

I use a 5D2 because I do location portraits, landscapes, product photography, weddings, etc. I need the crisp low light performance. If I were to shoot wildlife, sports, or macro, that would be a different story... and I'd probably buy a 7D over the 5D Mark II.
