Anyone know if it's good to keep your circular polarizer on your lens for indoor work? I do alot if studio work and i was wondering if there will be any difference with it on rather than off? I mean I know it's easy to just it take off and switch it for a uv filter( I just like to protect my lens) but if I don't need to then there's no point in switching it out. Just wondering

If losing two stops of light and looking into a very dark viewfinder is acceptable, leave it on.

It depends on what you're shooting. Some things have properties of direct polarized reflection...and if they do, you can use the filter to alter how much of that reflection gets into the photo.

But keep in mind that a polarizing filter also blocks light...up to a stop, maybe a stop and a half. This will require your exposure settings to compensate...so a longer shutter speed, a larger aperture or a higher ISO than would be needed otherwise. So when you are shooting in situations where the filter is not needed, it is best to take it off.

As for replacing it with a UV filter...I personally wouldn't bother, unless you are shooting something that may spray something onto your lens.
