Just some from today at the lake with my boy...feelin BandW tonight. This is a spot I used to frequent when I was a kid..and a teenager...now back today with my own son. Good to be home in NH after many many years away.

^Oh I'm sure there is and thats cool. However you were at a LAKE and a picture that looks like you accidently took a picture of the ground, and one with all trees does nothing for this area.

These are pretty much abstracts, pure texture. As a pair, showing the quite small and the quite large, in such a similar look, I think there's some interest. Not my cup of tea, really, but obviously you meant it this way and succeeded. Good on ya!

But if u want we can compare our photography. I flipped through your attempts...I don't think u want to...with your few cheaply done HDR images...plain and lacking content...trying to make up for your lack of ability with an HDR program? Dude...if u don't understand the images...don't comment...especially if your own work is as amateurish as yours is

Charlie, I've really been enjoying your work! I love me some abstracts! These aren't as strong as some of the other stuff that you have posted but I still like them. The first one works for me a little more than the 2nd, prolly because I can tell the second one is trees. That kinda takes the fun away from what I'm looking at. The tree thing is prolly going to be fun to play w/ coming up w/ all the fall colors. I can't wait to see what you come up w/.

These are too low-key, that is, they seem to have almost no highlights at all, especially the first. Usually for bw to work it has to have a full range of tones and a fair amount of contrast. There are many exceptions, as there are to any generalization, but I don't think these are it. The first is more interesting, at least to me, purely as a composition, so I would go back to the raw file and brighten up the highlights, and generally tweak the curve until you get something that jumps out at you more than this.

My images plain and lacking content? I am new to the HDR game, and trying to branch out on what I normally do. It takes a while to master that type of photography. You took a picture of the ground. That is "art" photography to you? No one in this thread was like "WOW! these are really nice photos Charlie". So maybe I will a bit harsh, but I tell it how it is.


Oh and sorry Amolitor, not everyone is as nice as you, so I will be direct and to the point, call me what you want. You can say these pictures are "not your cup of tea"...seriously who says that anymore? lol.
