lakeside at night hdr

I forgot to add "for c&c" in the title.

This is my first attempt at nighttime hdr. Does this work? Any tips on settings? I used photomatrix. Should I post the 3 photos?

I don't see much HDR going on.
Just a long exposure,
I definitely see a little bit of the technique but
I'm new to HDR too though

I see it. Looks okish. Not a great picture and has what appears to be some focus issues, but a decent enough HDR I guess.

I'll take "okish" for my first try. Is there anything that would make it better? I messed around in photomatix for quite a while.

For an HDR you want more exposures, for one thing. Go brighter on 2-3 more.

Second, I would search for my name and night photography. I've given a slew of tips that would help you a lot. You missed focus completely on this.

Third, I would recommend you do an HDR of something simpler. Night photography is VERY challenging all by itself, so you're combining all the complexity of that with the complexity of HDR. Quite a big jump.
