The world is FULL of frauds. Phoney people.People with an agenda.People who want others to believe "something"...whatever it happens to be that promotes their own agenda, or makes them money. Today's media loves to glorify athletes, and to tell the public how "great" these various athletes are. We've seen this before..."great guys"...like Pete Rose...Mark McGuire....Sammy Sosa...Joe Paterno...Barry Bonds...Roger Clemens...Lance Armstrong...Mante Te'o... snort!!!!!!!!! Wow--what a bunch of "great guys", eh?? NOT!

Yeah...the carefully-crafted public image that furthers making a living or gaining fame and notoriety...Lance Armstrong has proven once again that an "American icon" can also be a lying, cheating, despicable person who puts his own advancement over his own integrity, or the welfare of others. All of the people Lance smeared...the people who tried to say, "Hey..the dude is doping!"--he tried, and succeeded, to ruin their careers.

Lesson: Be careful of people who use the media for their own personal or economic gain. Many times, these people are not who they "say" they are. And when the truth about who they are is brought up, they will quite often lash out and try to destroy the credibility of anybody who dares oppose them, or questions their motivations.

I concur. I'm a triathlete, I've completed Ironman Triathlons and have put in 300+ mile training weeks on the bike. While that pale's in comparison to the Tour, I do feel like I at least have a sense of what those riders go through. I've ridden 1,000 miles in a month and my legs were shelled. While doping certainly gave Lance an edge, there's no way he could have accomplished what he did without already being one of the elitist athlete's in the world. It's a shame that we'll never know how good he really was.
