Today I really put my camera through it's paces to test the repair to the shutter and shot the birds :) I was quite happy with these! The light coloured Goldfinch is a new fav of mine, that's a good day!
Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks for taking a look!

Takeoff, Wish he went the other way into the light but can't have it all!

This is the light coloured Goldfinch I mentioned above, I LOVE this shot :) It really stood out from the others it's so light, I'm thinking perhaps it's young?

Thanks Brian :). I really like the light in the last two too.

Really nice the last two. Everything worked out nicely, and I also prefer the pose in the 6th one. Nice all around! :)

Great shots really cool to flight shot.

The brightly colored goldfinches are the males, females are much more subdued, sort of an olive drab color. We see many of them at our backyard feeder. Great photos!

Amazed at the colours of your birds up there, just amazing and I love little birds. I enjoy taking shots of little birds rather than large birds for some reason. Anyway, great colours and good details and must say, darn good timing Judi. I would say your shutter is working just fine ;)

All the best Judi and these are just beautiful, excellent work to get these.

Danny.

Thanks so much all!

Rail, yes, the males are so brilliant aren't they! I need to get after some of the females to get some shots of them too. I've noticed a few that are still in the process of changing their coats from winter to summer and they are all very light in colour, like a male but much paler so I'm thinking they are juveniles, the more vibrant their colour the more mature.

Danny, actually this year we have a LOT more colourful guys and gals coming around. This is our third summer feeding, the first year we had just the normal fare, chickadees, finches, sparrows, blue jays and a pair of cardinals. This year we have multiple blue finches and the gorgeous orioles to add more colour and our swallow population is rising so I think I'm going to put up some houses for them and set up some staging areas where I can get to them, right now for the most part they use the top of the greenhouse for staging and I can't get close enough :( booo!

I'm jealous of your orioles - I spent an entire lunch hour on Thursday chasing a couple of them through the woods but neither came down low enough for me to get more of an orange spot in photos. They're so pretty, and I love their song.

Civ, they are so shy! They were only around for a very short time last year because I didn't have the right stuff out to feed them, I was so sad that I didn't research them right away when they arrived, I just assumed they would eat the seeds. This year I was ready for them and nailed it on the first try, I put out some homemade nectar and banana, the nectar was ok but they LOVE banana!! Today I tried grape jelly instead of the nectar and they love that too :)

Wait! Where is the FB shot?? Of the two birds?? That one is AMAZING!!
