Last Nights Family Pics. Small Room So I did Composites C/C welcome Trying to Learn.

Took my Family to my office last night to Shoot a Couple pics. My Office if very small, like 12 x 14 So not a lot of room So I decided to shoot and Composite the pics later. Let me know what y'all think. I am still learning and experimenting.

The photography looks well done, just not feeling the BG. I would have just preferred these shot so the BG was simply black, with maybe a hair light and reflector if needed.


You probably need to crop down #3. When you see it...

Thanks y'all! I agree I wish I would have had another light for a Hair light, I shot these with one Speed light and a White Shoot through Umbrella to the right of the Camera. A hair light and Reflector would have really been a great addition. Now that I look at it I think I would like to try some different Backgrounds. This was a Quick 2hr project from Shoot through edit.Thanks for the Helpful comments.

The lighting looks nice, and there is personality in them, but I agree the background is a bit OTT. Seems to work best in #3. Hope that helps.

Does this perspective of the Background look any better? I also tried to do some skin tone correction/Matching. My face seemed more red/Splotchy this seems more even?

I like the individual portraits of the girls more than the composite, it seems like the frame is too crowded the way everyone is placed. The only thing I don't like about the last one of the separate shots is that she isn't looking at the camera which is what makes the first one better I think.

Only thing I want to know is where they're shopping for accessories...

I like them! Great lighting and cool contrasting background. I think you pulled off exactly what you were going for.

I would add that by having dad's shoulders angled out of the frame and away from other family members, it promotes a sense that he is leaving and/or it diminishes the strength of his attachment to the group.

For me the vignetting is to heavy and I suggest for that type of work having your lighting reach all the way to the bottom of the frame.
