So I took a long look at all the advice I was given by those nice enough to leave C&C to my last post, I studied, perused and contemplated, (occasionally resting my chin on my hand), and in the small hours of this morning, promptly forgot everything you all had said and charged on regardless. :blushing:

Anyway, big note that was made was the constant darkness and low-light, so I went the opposite direction and unleashed the fury.

Blinded by the flash and seeing that even blacks were becoming almost invisable on the view screen, I decided I was on to something and pushed onwards.

However, it wasnt long before the call of the dark side became too strong, and I slid back into the shadows.

I rallied valiantly towards the end, at the very least trying to keep the shadows away from the face.

But the battle was lost, and what was supposed to be a blinding triumph blended, as usual, into the shadows. The last shot a grave reminder that it was bed time.

I love #4. The face is well lit and it just draws the eye toward it, and I love the composition! Very attractive model, too.

I am sorry but I don't see anything wrong with what you have produced! I love #3. The first two are bright, however I love the concept behind the shoot, reminds me of a pirate protecting their "booty". #3 stands out for me. Almost as if you have captured some sort of innocence!

I'm new here and I have no idea what I am doing, so my feedback may not be worth a lot. But I think these are fantastic. Yeah, #1 and #2 are a bit bright but if I understand correctly, that's what you were going for. #3 and #4 are beautiful! Having a gorgeous model surely doesn't hurt!

Great set, I really like 3 & 4.

These are exceptional. The model is cash, too.

Whoa! #4 is the bomb! You nailed it!

The first two are almost high key enough to be high key, but not high enough IMO. Model sure knows what to do though.

#3 is very interesting, and good light, but I'm not appreciating the frame.

#4 Don't do anything to wreck it!

#5 Unfortunately model's arm takes the scene.

BTW: See if you can change your avatar to something other than your model.

Was really expecting less clothing from a late night session, xP

4 is good, but there is some weird smoothing in post or something on her skin- or its not tac sharp? i dunno. i like it though.

i know what your saying and i found out what it is. Its a misfocus. the focus is on the lips. otherwise it woulda been very nice.

Thanks for all the comments guys, far better than expected so I'm feeling happy about my day now. Its all much appreciated. #3 and #4 seem to be the peoples favorite.

Do you mean so that the edges of the model melt into the background? I was messing in lightroom, but whenever I got close to vanishing I had also lost so much detail the model was basically hair and eyes. This is probably a really stupid question, but I was told that in high-key the darkest colour should be a light grey, and therefore you would never have 'true high-key' with a black/brown haired model. Is there any truth in this?

The NSFW shots are kept in that big chest she's sitting on, I like to drape myself across it at night and mumble things that sound like "my precious."

Looking at the original I think the focus was sitting on the left eye, (her right). The skin condition is a by-product of me behaving in photoshop like a bull in the proverbial chinashop. I am however improving. So so slowly.

And to everyone again, thanks very much for the replies, and I'm very happy you all seem to like at least one or two. This shall make the sting of being told 'yeah those are crap' the next time I post for C&C all the more stinging. :)

Yes fine, at some point today I shall wash my hair, do my makeup, find something nice to wear and pose for a self-portrait. I may even shave my beard and trim my nose hair.

Hard to take a bad picture when your model is a 10/10. You did a pretty good job.

I get told that a lot. (Pretty much every shot I take of her). I'm guessing I could just snap away one handed while watching TV on the sofa and people will still like them.

Well since she's so popular, here is a close-up from the very end of the night.

Done, although I didn't get a chance to do makeup or hair. Give it time, you'll be wishing for my old avatar back soon enough.
