Lava Ladle

One of the first steps in glass blowing -- hot glass is formed with a ladle prior to blowing, and yes, they call it "lava". I really liked the sweat visible on the artist's hand here -- it really does get pretty warm next to the ovens.

Thanks, all. This was part of a demonstration during a fundraising event, and quite a few of the photos from that night were pretty busy (somewhat intentional, as I wanted to show the crowds gathered to watch), so I liked the simplicity of this shot in a "standalone" context.
