Saturday was a beautiful day to go out and shoot and took advantage of it.

Flash + Gary Fong Lightsphere with Amberdome.

I feel like the focus was missed/soft in all these shots. I'm not entirely sold on the soft black processing.

#6, 9, and 10 are my favorites from the set.

Its the way i post processed them reason they are soft.
My next set i will try to keep the sharpness.

I think you did really well here. The low angle and the distracting background doesn't work in the last one.

11,10,9, and 7 would have made nice vertical compositions. I'm not a 100 percent fan of the soft processing look either, but the lighting on the scene was very direct and somewhat hard light, so I can understand why you processed these the way you did. Shot #7 is not a very good place to put a small child, facing right into blinding sunlight. On some of the shots where you worked in little bits of shade, I think the eyes of the subjects were rendered a bit better, not so squinty.

Small Child and a Woman. I will try to keep everything that has been said here in mind when shooting this upcoming weekend.

I agree with what the others have said. Also I find the shadow running through the center of the image in 2, 3, and 9 distracting. Especially #2, my eyes are immediately drawn to her back.10 and 11 are my favorites; 10 because you've captured a great moment and 11 because I like its lighting the best of the bunch.
