Lens advice

Hello All,

I'm looking to upgrade to a new lens that will be good for photographing plays and runway events. I have a 28-70, but it doesn't have quite enough zoom. I'm looking at an 80-200, but I often get too close for a 70-80mm. Is there a Nikon 24-105 F4? Are there any other lenses that are good for this type of thing on a 500 used budget ?

I have no idea about the Nikon offerings, but Sigma just came out with a 24-105 f/4 that could be interesting to you. Not sure if it fits your budget though...

Nikon has a 24-120mm f/4, and as a_auger has written, Sigma has a strong competitor in the 24-105mm f/4 OS HSM.
What camera do you use? If it's DX-format, you can buy Sigma's 50-150mm f/2.8, which should be a better option.

24-120 f4. Sounds like a great walkabout lens too. I'm going to have to look into it now.
