Also, some lens hood make the lens look very cool. It turn a amateur photographer into a Pro instantly.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I will gladly confess, admit, and otherwise agree that my very first lens hood was bought because it made my only lens at the time, a 50mm "normal" lens, look bigger and badder. I seem to recall paying all of $2.95 for that collapsible rubber hood with the plastic screw mount. Lots of people would say, "Hey, wow, what's that thing?" Honestly, I'm not even sure I knew then what a lens hood's purpose was, and didn't much care, it made my rig look really cool.
