I have a Vivitar 28mm lens on my Nikon FE that just now would not focus to infinity—it got close, but not quite there. I've played around with it a bit and realized that the central barrel of the lens (where you'd screw on a filter) seems a bit loose—I guess I twisted it when I was putting on or taking off a filter when I used it last week.
I was able to get it focusing to infinity again by rotating it back into the correct position while looking through the viewfinder, but obviously this is not ideal. It doesn't feel like anything is going to fall apart, and it doesn't seem like it's going to fall out of position again without me twisting it again, but I've never had this issue with a lens before, and none of my other lenses seem to have a loose part like that. Is this something I could fix myself, or is it one of those "if it's working again, why bother?" kinda problems?
