light meter

So my film teacher gave me a light meter. Its a sekonic studio deluxe. So I was just wondering if anyone had any general tips on usage. Thank you

My tip would be to check the setting of the scales at least twice before adjusting the camera(kind of like woodworking....measure twice-cut once). I have often set the wrong scale when metering. This was back when I was still using film. I quickly upgraded to the Seconic digital meter after that.
