Lighthouse and Seascape

Went out with my new D7100 and tried to use my new 24-70 with a DX camera. Was a little weird as this is also one of my first shoots period. Would appreciate some comments.

On your first one your processing has left some ugly shadowy halos around the post and the light house. And for the life of me I cannot figure our why in the water on the left there are several blotches more in focus that are surrounded by more out of focus parts. It's not possible to do this of prickly so you must have done something to cause this in post.

What lighthouse? I see a sign that's in focus that says 'Lighthouse Circle'. Is that blurry thing in the background the lighthouse?

IMO the lighthouse is to small in the frame and the DoF is to shallow.

Hmm..Might you mean the rocks in the water in the lower left? Here are same photos with no processing at all and other with lighthouse in clearer view..Thanks for your input...These are early efforts and I'm learning.

Last two pictures say something like "Trust me I was there" =) I like the second one, but maybe I would try portrait orientation.

I like #2 of the first installment with the people and the contrails. That is really nice. You should really number your shot uploads so it is easy to pick and choose what we (I) want to comment on. My old eyes just cannot cope with so many in posts.
