Took this photo using my new SB700. I've got a lot to learn with this flash. What can I improve on in the photo.

I agree; I still see textures in the white and no strong reflections on the skin...

Thanks! I'm working on getting an even tone by bouncing, etc. Any other critiques about the photo? Do you think it is too much of a snap shot? I know I probably need to clone out the letters on the chair, or get the whole name included.

It is a lovely shot, maybe a bit cramped; I wouldn't bother too much about the letters as they are part of the environment. I would mind more the bit of left arm that has been ... left, precisely ... and the bit of 'hairdress' that's been cut off ...

The highlights look all wrong here. The left side of her face has light on it but the front is a bit darker. Not sure you bounced the flash to the part of the face that you actually needed fill on.

To me the effect of bounced flash looks nice with soft skin tones.....the light on her right cheek give a good modelling effect, as reflected by bouncing....You can achieve good effect bouncing off side walls(white),placing some white thing to reflect back,if the walls of some colour...reflecting from ceiling, a reflector nearby your camera,flash head turned to it. Use an umbrella with stand, as your choice indoors and outdoors...direct flash kills the natural effect of light, as harsh one.....However outdoors, u can use direct flash shooting against light to fill in shadows in portraits....The catchlight in eyes will help bring out the life in the face.

Did you happen to bounce off of a non-white wall???
