My strobes are off in another state at the moments so I just wanted to show that you don't need fancy lights to learn lighting and get good results. I put this together using pvc pipe, tape, a shower curtain, old cymbal stands, and a yongnuo flash.

Nice DIY, but what's up with the blue tape? Doesn't it give off a color cast? Do you have any examples with this setup?

It was just kinda a for fun project. that's why the blue tape. If I were really going to use this setup alot I would use some ripstop nylon and either sew or glue it with a transparent glue.

I'll post a few shots when the kid goes to bed

Some pretty severe light fall off in those. May I suggest to place the lighting setup closer to your subject and perhaps lowering the power output?

ya. They were done in a hurry cause my boy was getting tired. the light was as close as I could get where he wouldn't be able to grab it and pull it on himself. Never really got it dialed in, he got crabby waiting for me!

Here are 2 of the pics after edits.
