lightroom help

just got lightroom and have been playing around a little bit. i am an extreme beginner and dont know a whole lot about what im doing, should i shoot everything in raw? or what is the best way to shoot? and also when i save the photos after putting them through lightroom they automatically save as pdf's, is there a way to change the saved format or should i be saving them as pdf's?

Shoot everything in raw, you will get better results in lightroom. When you export, you get a dialog, change the Format (under file settings) from PDF to whatever you want.
