Little Egret on the Seashore

This was taken on Alderney, in the Channel Islands (the ones in the English Channel).

I was only about 20-30 metres from the bird, at the back of the shore.

For only shooting at 90mm that's a pretty good shot, you got pretty close. It's mostly environment but it's right for that bird. My suggestion if at all possible is to get down closer to the level of the bird. Sometimes that is easier said than done on those rocky shores but it will give you a much better point of view on the subject.

^^That!^^ As well, if you have one, consider the use of a CPOL to cut down on the reflections and increase saturation.

As Hunter says, getting down low is easier said than done, especially if you have replacement knees.

I now have a CPOL but I did not then!
