It snowed. And sleeted. And snowed some more. Grey skies render everything monochromatic. And the damp cold reminds me that spring is still at least a month away. As I was driving from one important task to another, I happened to pass by the lakeshore drive. It was deserted. The crowds of summer, the rollerbladers, the cyclists, the strolling lovers are all not there. It felt lonely. But I had my camera with me. What are your thoughts when you look at these?

Very crisp and clean. nice job!

yea the message is coming through. nice job

#1: Quietude (Not something I associate w/Lakeshore Drive since the only time I visited there was a Brilliant September afternoon w/about 10K other lucky souls out walking.)
#2: How vast and encompassing is the cold!
Wonderful work -- making the images, but also capturing something essential about our experiences of Winter.
Thanks for sharing these, pgriz.

Thank you all, both for the comments and for the likes. I wasn't sure if I had the feeling nailed - it is hard to critique one's own work. And it was the kind of day that really needed a warm fireplace, a good book, and cup of something nice, to make it all right. But I'm pretty happy with the images I got. Sigh. I'm looking forward to swatting away pesky mosquitos.

They are both great! I keep the second one as my favorite though! :-) Very sharp and clear!

Yes, the first one especially (good title as well).

Love the top one though I think I would clone out the channel marker and perhaps crop it a bit more on that side.

Thank you all. Ceeboy14, I was kinda ambivalent about the channel marker. On the one hand, it IS part of the scene, but looking at it again, it doesn't really contribute to the image. I'm going to take your suggestion and play with it a little.

I really like both of these, the light is superb on the first one and I love the minimalist aspect of the second one
Thanks for sharing.

Stark, vast and cold, brrrr. Glad you stopped between tasks!

Really like both of these! And they fit my mood right now; it's snowing here, just as it did yesterday morning, and they are calling for flurries off and on all day, or maybe JUST warm enough to get the coldest rain possibly (oh joy..), and flurries again tomorrow.
We don't even have any snow laying on the ground to at least LOOK pretty--it's just cold, damp, gray and yuck.

And I am *beyond* weary of it. There's a John Denver song (yeah, I know, right? John Denver...get over it! ) that says, "There's a fire in the corner slowly dying; sometimes I just don't feel like going on anymore; and yet I know it's more than worth the waiting; for another chance to see the summer sun..." Yep, that's how I feel.

I live in the South, doggone it!! Someone send Winter the memo that it is supposed to LEAVE here now. :D
On the other hand, there are daffodils and jonquils blooming in my yard, and the Japanese Magnolia is budding, so maybe I can hold out a bit longer. :D

These pictures, by the way, actually cheer me a little. Because at least when the snow sticks, it's pretty, unlike here where it just falls and melts. And also because, all that snow is up THERE, and NOT here. :lmao:
