Long exposure critique and comments please

Hi all. I have been having a go at some long exposure shots. Just after some comments and critique on them. Any tips of things I could do differently or things that you may think I have done great. Thanks

I really like your first photograph! The stars came out really good IMO. Plus, for being dark, you got some nice detail on the stone. The second pic might appeal to some people because it is dark, so you get some decent color on the wood, so might not like it for the same reason.

Love the first pic. The mountains in the background stand out in a nice contrast to the rest of the background. One wonders though with such a good result if you went even longer to capture star trails how this would have turned out. would love to have this as a background image for the laptop.

Thanks. With the first picture I had fully charged battery and wanted to try leaving it for an hour or so, but unfortunately some other people turned up and began taking photos with their flash. I hope to go back there when there is no moon. Will be many more stars visible. Lake Tekapo, New Zealand. One of the most amazing places in the world for star shots I am told. I feel lucky to live only 3 hours drive away.

I really liked the first photograph. I would love to see it with star trails as well, seeing as the stars came out so sharp and nice!

I would leave the first photo just the way it is; star trails are overdone. At smaller size you don't even notice much blur.

The front lighting on the wooden pilings on the other photo adds a nice touch.
