long exposure shots for C&C

I took these around 3 in the morning when I woke up and couldn't sleep. I like the way they turned out but I would like some other opinions on them too. I already cloned out the purple corners in number 2. Does anyone know how to take extended exposures without overheating a CCD sensor?

I'm not a fan of the first one, nothing interesting in it for me.

The second one does have a purple tint at the bottom and a purple lens flare in the middle of the picture. I much prefer the third picture, it's the strongest of the three in my opinion but you still have the purple but it's in the top corner this time

Cooling camera sensors is a major concern of astrophotographers. Some use cooled gel packs strapped to the camera back and bottom while others have gone to the extreme of drilling holes in non critical areas of the camera body and introducing cooled air with the aid of a fan. Waiting for cold temperatures as well as letting the camera cool to ambient temperatures between exposures is a possibility as well.
