The bright light @ the monsters butt is odd. It would be good if you could bring up the details in the shadows in post. It is also difficult to judge the size of the turtle because we have no perspective (no fault of yours). The pic looks like it may have been taken in an old quarry as the rock fragments are only slightly weathered.

god those things are huge and scary... congrats on the capture. :)

ditto on the perspective issue. Again nothing you could do, I wouldn't want to get close enough to it to place an object for size refrence... It looks as though there were trees near by that the sun was shining through? I think that's the reason for the bright spot on it's rear.

They also stink to high heaven!

I've rescued several from the highways in Missouri and Kansas. I hate seeing them get run over, even though trying to rescue them is kind of dangerous. They are not pleasant creatures to work with. :)

Yeah that bright spot is just the sun shining thru some trees. This was on an old dirt and gravel road in north bama. I hurried on taking the pics because I wanted to get him off the road before someone ran over him.

I'm glad you saved him.

I think the first photo is fine but It would be better if there was more contrast between the turtle and the fund
