Looking for an Opinion on a Camera

So i was just doing some searching on kijiji.ca and found a local pawn shop that posted a Nikon D50. I called them today. It was only used once... the store themselves bought it, they got it at a wholesale price and are selling it for $400.... it includes:

NIKON D50 WITH A AF-S NIKKOR 18-55MM GREAT DEAL ON THIS ONLY USED ONCE AND COMES WITH A LOWEPRO BAG AND A 256 MB MEMORY CARD AND A 52MM LENS FILTRE.

I'm just wondering if you guys think its a good deal...and also how much better is it then my Nikon D40??

Firstly, don't believe things that you hear in or from a pawn shop. :lol:

The D50 is a actually a great entry level Nikon. It is pretty much the same as the D40 (as far as I know) but it has the internal focus motor, so you don't have the compatibility issues that the D40 has.

oh don't worry, I'm not that nieve... I bought a $7000 video camera from the same pawn shop for 400 bucks!!

I'm sure it's hot which doesnt bother me.. I didn't steal it.. hmm... is that ethical...

So would you recommend buying it??

GO check it out. I mean it doesn't matter how much it was used, unless it doesn't work. Or unless it has been used alooot. Go look at it and ask them questions in person. That's usually my policy because it''s much harder for someone to BS you in person, but over the phone or on email they can think about what to say. Just ask some questions about it and see if they seem honest or if they are nervous and sketchy, just my 2 cents

The D50 uses a CCD sensor. No the best high ISO quality, but if you're triggering a flash remotely or with a cable, it's not actually limited by the manufacture's spec.

With a powerful enough flash you can shoot outside at 1/4000 of a second, illuminate your subject, and almost black out the sun.

no its brand new... the pawn shop themselves bought it from Nikon to use to take pictures of their products that they put online... they quickly realized that they didnt need an expensive camera to do this... they had all the orignal recipts and stuff there.. they only used it like 5 times... its in EXCELLENT condition.. I was really impressed...
