Hello guys,
I am just stepping into the amazing world of DSLR photography and am buying my own Canon EOS 550D this summer. Meanwhile, here are some of my shots taken from my point and shoot and friend's SLR. I would greatly appreciate if I can get a feedback from you, veterans on what I can do to improve. Also, a comment on composition would make my day. :D

PLEASE DO COMMENT ON EXPOSURE SETTINGS OF THIS ONE as it's one of my favorites but i sometimes think it's underexposed.

The compositions are nice enough, but there are a couple of issues, specifically exposure and un-level horizons. Concentrate on keeping the camera level when shooting, and as far as exposure, I would suggest reading some of the excellent tutorials here for more information.

thanks man, for pointing these things out, I'll work upon them. Glad you mentioned the point of exposure, I think I tend to lose tones if I take shots in right exposure for eg: I guess image #2 and #4 are underexposed but then if I expose them correctly I tend to lose tones..what's the workaround that??
and thanks for the link..I'll go through it.

Under exposure tends to saturate colors, but under exposure also makes image noise more visable.

The rule of thumb for exposing digital images is to expose for the highlights, and let the shadows take care of themselves. This is also known as ETTR - Expose-To-The-Right, which is in referance to the image histogram.

I love the second image. Almost reminds me of surrealism, like something Dali would paint. It looks like the sky is rippling.
