We have a small little fish pond in the back yard and each year this solitary lotus flower pops up right around this time. D700 and 85mm f/1.4 AIS Nikkor

I like it... did you darken the background and reflection, or is that how it came out?

It looks tweaked to me, but I don't think tweaking is a bad thing. (Well, I tweak virtually all of mine...)

Beautiful flower, beautiful shot. Envy :)

way heavy on the burn tool and some hot spots on the pedals but over all it is a nice feel. I think this could be worh re-shooting if you are able to but as it right now, not a great image.

Actually all I did to it was a little bit of vignetting with the lens correction tool. This was taken early in the morning, 6:45 or so before the sun had come up over that part of the yard. There is a lot of stuff growing up around it that darkens that end of the pond and I exposed for the highlights on the petals.

What a super shot. I love it. The dark background lets me focus my attention on the vibrant colors of the Lotus, then seeing the soft, reflection in the water under it, just adds to my enjoyment.

If anyone is interested, I went out to the pond this morning, the day after I shot this, and the flower was gone........until next year I hope! I got it just in the nick of time!

Gorgeous, I love the light you caught! Glad you captured this before it was gone :)

Great image as-is. would hang it up if I had any wall space left.

That is how it is a lot of the time with pix. I read a thread that discussed timing and photography...'Zen of When'. Glad you were able to memorialize the moment. Great work!
