Macro question

I got a Canon Rebel Xti and id like to take good macros.

This is the best I could do so far :

How can I take good macro shots zoomed in closer to the crystals and how do I reduce the blurring??

Im using the stock 18 - 55mm lens.

Any advice?

More light and tripod.

Hm alright.

Any particular place the lighting should be coming from? Il start using the tripod.

I shouldn't use the flash though right? I find the flash makes the picture worse.
