Madame Masquerade

Sooo, I was exploring the other day (photos seen in another upcoming thread. Will post link when it's up) and I came across this room with a child's vanity in it. I was thinking about doing something of a fashion shoot here. That concept swiftly turned into a masquerade theme. So, before I knew it, I was making a masquerade mask and I was up there with all my gear, shooting. I don't know how much I like the shots, so I'd love your opinions. Please and thank you.

Very innovative series Mark; the main criticism I have is that I didn't take them. Other than that, one little nitpick is that some of them have a rather more centered subject than I think might be ideal.

I like the first 2. I think they lights are good. I dont like 3 and 4 as much with the lighting. 4 look like she has a really really big head.

Thank you! I know. It was super hard in the 10x10 room I was in to actually be able to compose correctly. I tried to fill the frame as much as I could in the first two to make up for this. Thanks again!

Thank you. I only had one SB-600 to work with.

3 and 4 were extremely hard because I only had 3' from the front of her face to the crumbling ceiling. Not much room at all for me, my D300s, Tokina 11-16, tripod, and SB-600. :lol:

. That's also why her head looks a tad on the large side in 4.

Here are some details on the setup:

Note the SB-600 implanted in the ceiling! I had to bust a hole in the ceilng (minimal. I don't come into these places to destroy them. I only took out about 2x2")

Using a peice of fallen drywall as a makeshift reflector and the tripod to hold it in position. I forgot mine. And this actually worked to an extent!

The model, Sarah, was using my iPad's front-facing camera to watch herself in real-time put on her makeup for the shoot. That worked EXTREMELY well, until the battery died.

This one was a candid, believe it or not! And has apparently went through some SERIOUS compression from photobucket and has lost alot of sharpness. :grumpy:
