Man in blue

I was walking around Chinatown in NYC and saw this man standing in a doorway, watching the passersby. I stayed around for a few minutes, snapping shots as he watched and peeked.
I liked this one specifically because of the leading intense blue of the wall, the geometricity of the composition, his nice sharp profile and the clean echo of his profile repeated on the adjacent doorway wall. It was certainly the closest to what I envisioned when I took the shot.

(note that because of the angle of the sun at 9:48 AM, his head had to be tilted to get a neat profile and that's why many of the shots weren't as satisfactory)

No specific message but his concentration shows through and there is an enjoyable visual.

I really like this one, for all the reasons you said. Especially the echo from his shadow, and the contrasting blue & yellow.

You mentioned other shots that weren't as good as this one, would you post one of those for comparison purposes?

Btw, I really like the narratives you've been including with your photos over the past few days.

I like it, normally when framing people putting them facing out of frame like this doesn't work, it often ends up cramping the person and making the image feel incomplete, that isn't the case here and I think that is achieved by the careful consideration of his shadow. Nice image.

Great shot ....the first one, the other ones are not the same. I like his body attitude and especially his head silo on the wall. the color works nice as the dark blue and black go together so well.

Thanks for posting the other shots, it's a good reminder that having some patience while out shooting can make a big difference in the final image.
