Good light, blue sky with some clouds, and a POLARIZER put to its best use, to then make a good conversion into black and white (or blanco y negro, whichever words you prefer, ) seems to be the secret of the first photo. Apart from your composition and the impressiveness of both fountain and building. Very nice.

I like how the first provokes a feeling inside me as if you'd definitely have to fall over when you walk that path, as it is "moving" under your feet, rippling! With that feeling enhanced by the diagonal stripes of light and shadow that go with the pattern. Cool.
