What do you prefer your images be printed on? Why?

Note: including luster, semi gloss etc.

Matte most of the time. RARELY is glossy the way to go for me. Metallic is a glossy finish and that's different!

Glossy, unless I think it will look better in matte.

To give you a serious answer, it actually has more to do with the application. If it's a loose print that will be passed around, I will go with matte. If it is going to be framed, and I know I don't have to worry about finger prints, I go with glossy. The type of photo also plays a part in it. Some shots look great in metallic, some look great on canvas. Really, it all depends.

If I were you, I would go to your local print shop, and ask them for a paper sample kit. Mpix offers one for around 3 bucks(although I was disapointed in it, and actually have a thread about it on here somewhere), and if your print shop doesn't sell one as a habit, they will probably put one together for you. Heck, even my local costco put together a print/canvas/frame/blanket sample for me out of stuff they had lying around, and they did it for free.
