Well I hope you have enough information to at least drive you crazy :smileys: . Just another tidbit for you. If your boys are going to be playing sports, you may also want to consider that a few video clips will be nice to add to those memories. Food for thought .

Have you considered the A77 or A99? I got a chance to play with an A77 and although they are not the newest cameras out WOW pretty amazing camera. Has probably all the features of the NEX 7 plus more I could only imagine the A99 I think it has a few more options. I really liked the A77 speed and if you want speed for your kids sports this is the camera for it very very fast. MAkes me want one just for that! I am not sure how they do in low light for what you need but maybe an A77 user can chime in. Wait I recall there was a guy who has the A77 and just got an D610 because the A77 was not suitable for his needs in low light….correct me if I wrong on this…its been an ongoing thread as well.

The a99 is apparently also a mirror less camera marketed as a dslr. So that one isn't going to work. I will look into the a77 if I decide I want a crop sensor. It's still pretty up in the air. I'm leaning towards the 6d but really want to go nikon for no really good reason....

I thought that Derrel has solved my problem with the live view mode. It helped! And now my focus is "nearly" there but just not quite. I'd venture to say I am at 99% focus. I wonder if I can just put in brighter modeling lights to make it that extra 1%?

Edit: it says they are only 50-69 watt output. The modeling lamp it came with is already 150watts. :-(

Yes, but that doesn't take into account the number of lumens in output. That multi-LED bulb uses fewer Watts worth of energy, but it creates 620 lumens worth of light.

can you give a link or post a picture of what you are trying to do, maybe what the final picture would look like. I have no clue so that would be cool to see.

The A99 is not a true mirror but uses a translucent mirror the same with the A77.

Both of these cameras are loaded with features that I think could help aid you in what I think your trying to do.
