When using two EN-EL3e batteries does it deplete the batteries one at a time or use them simultaneously?

As stated above, and you can set the priority in the camera's menu as to which it will use first.

As far as I am aware all nikon grips work this way, but 3rd party grips use both battery's at the same-time.

Not all 3rd party grips use both batteries at the same time. The Zeikos grip I have on one of my D300's doesn't, and I can set the grip up to use either the one in the grip or the one in the camera first.

Thanks everyone. Where did you find this info? I've spent a couple hours over the last few days trying to find out ( internet, manuals etc).
