I got a Gretsch tenor banjo last night from a local gentleman who was trying to trade for a saxophone for his son. I had the sax and he had this. The only marking is a PAINTED Gretsch logo on the headstock. I have traced the headstock shape to be on course with the late 20's to early 30's models. Pretty sweet. Best thing is, is holds its tune and plays beautifully. My mandolin has a new friend! Oh and BTW, you play a tenor banjo with a pick like a guitar or mandolin, so no, I'm not playing it wrong! C&C always welcome, I wish now, I had centered the backlight better, but alas, this took me like 13 minutes total so far and I was manually focusing cause i have no remote for this camera. Plus I hate waiting on the self timer...
had a friend over tonight, hes a hack fiddle player but a great person for photos. figured id just put these in here too... no need to flood the forum with me practicing. haha.
A gold tone 5 string and a "C" saga 5 string that is tuned to open C rather than G. Next time you travel up north, we will have a hoedown.
