Memory Card Reformatting Issue- HELP!

Hey all!

My friend wrote me about an issue she's having with her camera. She was on vacation and ...well, here's her email to me:

"I have a photo question. While I was in Hawaii I took a bunch of pix. When one day I was getting ready to take some pix and I had an alert that said I needed to format my memory card but that it would delete all data. I had a second memory card to use the rest of the trip. I also tried to download the 1st card to my laptop but it wouldn't read it. Have I lost the pix?"

Any help? Suggestions? Advice?

If the pix can still be viewed while the memory is still in the camera, she should be able to transfer them using the camera to computer transfer method. At times, the laptop may not be able to recognize the card boot sector but the camera will still read them. If she can transfer the files, she should then reformat the card while in the camera not in the laptop. The camera's format process configures the card properly for camera use.

If the card is still un-readable, there are recovery software applications available that work with mixed results such as Zero Assumption Digital Image Recovery download and reviews from SnapFiles these are last resort options to use at your own risk.

Good news for you. You have not lost even a single pix of your first card. Because the stored files are intact on card as long as you do not overwrite with some other files. Only the file system of card is corrupted so you are unable to view your pix. I will recommend you to use either a photo recovery software or card recovery software to recover your files from corrupted card. These softwares can recovers photos and other multimedia files from corrupted or formatted cards. You can easily find these software on net.
