messenger style camera bag suggestions?

I'm looking for one that can hold my Mark 3 5D attached to a Canon 70-200 2.8 usm.
Something as compace as possible that still comfortably fits the camera and lens.

Hey Keith, as long as your at it could you maybe see if you can track down a couple of good pizza places in my local area? Oh, and a good plumber who doesn't charge too much. Oh, and while your at it maybe a day spa. Lol

Seriously though, to the OP - camera bags are the sort of thing that I strongly recommend you hit a local camera store for, if at all possible. I've tried out quite a few, and bags that other folks swear by didn't really work all that well for me because of various ergonomic concerns, and I'm sure the opposite is also true, my preferred bag while perfect for me probably wouldn't be everyone else's first choice.

My "standard" bag is a Tamrac Zuma 5 - I has the space I need for everything I normally want to carry with me and it does a good job of storing my tablet as well, so it's a really good fit for me personally.

That's my typical "go" bag. All of that fits in there nicely.I should note that when it's loaded there's no tripod collar on the 70-200, and no hoods either. The hoods stay at home and the collar goes in an end pocked with the strap.

Surely you can just reverse the Lens Hoods for transport an then flip them over for use once you get the camera out.

They increase the "girth" of the lens to the point where, if I want all three lenses, the hoods just DON'T fit.

While the Domke F2 is a great camera bag, I wouldn't say it is a messenger style bag. It is more of a shoulder bag, and probably more camera bag-like than the OP is looking for.

It has been a long time since I've shopped for messenger bag, but if I were going to, I would start with crumpler and think tank branded bags.
