I took my umbrella with the SB-910 and took some portraits of a neighbor. Getting better, need some C&C....

First. Let me applaud you for your correct usage of an apostrophe.

Second, I would bin #2. She appears to be squinting into the light, and there's uneven light across her face. I also would never pose someone in front of a tree like that. It's cliche for one, but acts as a wall that removes all DOF from the image to actually give it interest.

Other than that, I think you have a good balance of light here, but I'd really work on your framing/composition.

What he said^^ Numbers 1 and 3 look good.

#1 for me. Even 3 seems to have a squint. Nice smile on #1 also

#1 horizontal frame good choice, but watch your background.
#2 Not good for reasons already mentioned.
#3 Should have been framed vertically. Grass in foreground.

Thanks for the C&C. Believe it or not she really liked #2 and ordered it. In #3 she is under a diffuser but she is a squinter. Even downstairs she squinted when she smiled. I had to have her not consciously do it...

I didn't realize the fingers in #1 until you mentioned it.
