CF is the way to go in my opinion. MDs are mini hard drives, so there are more prone to failure due to shock, etc., and they have moving parts that wear out. Plus they chew up the batteries faster. The main benefit used to be higher capacity, but now that isn't such a big deal. Personally, I wouldn't want to go very big in size on memory cards anyway. I don't like trusting all those images to a single card.
