Once much maligned as a noxious weed, the milk weed is the life's blood of the four generations of Monarch Butterflies, as they travel from Central Mexico to Canada and back.

I caught the plant just as the sun's angle was casting a feathery shadow on the lower leaves.

Is that the whole, skim, or 2% variety? ;) Because of the similarity in tonal value between the red & green when translated into monochrome, I'm not sure that leaving it as a colour image might not have been a better choice.

I did vacillate between Color and B&W. Perhaps my bias for B&W peeked through.
