minimalist composition

Ask yourself why such a simple image has no impact.

Then think about subject scale, and subject matter.

honestly I don't get it? Its a picture of signs which may hold a meaning to you but there is nothing that pops out to me.

it would have been more interesting if you had taken a long exposure shot of the highway and include the traffic on it. Just a floating sign in the middle of nothingness is not very interesting...

It does hold meaning to me because I live in this area. I actually could not have done a long exposure (which i did try at first); if it was any longer the sign would have been overexposed to just white.

i appreciate all the comments! just another example of how my personal bias can influence which photos i enjoy and which others think is boring.
