Hey all,

Newbie here with a Sony alpha100. I'm looking to upgrade my lens, looking for something better than a kit lens, a "general" lens if that makes sense. I'm so over-whelmed with how many choices there are. Is there a list that shows amazing to "bad" lenses?

I have a Sony Alpha and recently purchased a Minolta 28mm-100mm 3.5-5.6 for £25 on ebay. I well pleased with it. Its much better than my kits lens which sells for about £60 on ebay!

I forgot to mention- take a look at the Sigma 17-70 f2.8/4.5 DC macro. It is a VERY sharp lens and a good all-round lens.

I have some old Minolta lenses that I just got from my Dad that I'm not going to use. PM me if you're interested.

AF 50mm 1.4
AF 35-70
AF 70-210
2x teleconverter

The 35-70, if it is a black metal housing one, is tack sharp. 70-210 beercan is a must, legendary glass.

The 35 - 70 has to be the F4 macro, and you are right, it is a great little lens! There are several 70 - 210 lenses, but again the "Beercan" is the F4 lens.
They really show up the modern Sony lenses.
