Nope. That's the real deal...heat haze from the jet pipe

This wasn't at an airshow, it was an RAF base. It's used a lot for the NATO ranges over the North sea and it's so popular with aircraft spotters and aviation photographers that there's a purpose built viewing area at the bottom of the runway.

Yes, that was taken with the Sigma 50-500mm. I'm still trying to figure out how to get best out of it but I'm very happy so far.
