I didn't notice any makeup on her? What are you noticing ? Im trying to work on skin tone editing so its possibly something i did in PP?

Shot #1...ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The white dots are snow-like...very cute!!!

Shot #2...I loathe that background. Combine that owl-pattern jumper and that weird background and shot #2 is just...dreadfully busy...

I think way too much skin editing and it is blindingly bright.

I will admit that #2 backdrop (fabric) appeared more awesome in the fabric store than on the actual photo.

Yes, too much editing on the skin and eyes. The poses, backdrop and baby are great... Just back off a bit in Photoshop.

I love the first.. except the white on white that you mention. I like her pose a lot in #2.. but not with that back drop.

Thanks for the advise! I used an action by MCP called "Pick me up color". It intensified the entire image, which caused the skin tone to look blueish so I adjusted the cyan a bit.

I sharpened the eyes and lightened the white and iris a bit ( but maybe a bit too much?).

That's what I figured Actions are great tools and can really help you learn the functions of PS, but you have to be very careful with overdoing it.

The action you used sounds a lot like one I got from The Coffee Shop blog awhile back called Perfect Portrait. Her eyes aren't completely alien-esque, but you can't miss the processing. Try adjusting the opacity of the layer you used to whiten/sharpen. If there is a layer called "skin smoothing" or "skin glow," try turning that one down too.

I appreciate your advice I purchased 2 yards of the fabric from a craft/fabric store called Joanne's. I think I only paid about $15?

I frequent Joanne's on almost a weekly basis ( and probably pay there power bill:/ ) I will be more than happy pick up a few yards and mail it to you if you would like. Just let me know if you decide

The first image you could enhance the background as there in color in it ...eg going a little cyan would bring out the snow bumps.

I love them both- the first one the most. I agree that on the 2nd one her outfit is too busy for that background and doesn't match it- but you did a good job on the technical stuff in my opinion Maybe on the first one you can do an layer mask on her feet and tone down the highlights to make it not blend in so much...just subtly
