These were so much fun to shoot and watch. I needed to get used to the controls of my D80 and this did the trick. C&C are welcome, otherwise, I hope you enjoy.

My dad used to take us to fly model planes every other weekend.... well actually we'd just go watch them because he was too poor (back then) to buy one... sometimes some of the guys let us fly them.
Nice pics and if that is your daughter, I'm telling you as a grown adult, that used to do this some 20 odd years ago with her dad, she will remember this! :)

Unfortunately, that is not my daughter. I don't know any of the people in the shots but they are there every week so I figured as a courtesy I will burn them a CD and give it to them.

That girl was SO adorable though. Her dad was teaching her how to fly and when she crashed she would pretend to fly over to get it. One of my favorite shots is the one of her doing this.

very nice shots, but 2 and 6 are my favorites  thanks for sharing

I used to fly those a few years back.... and you thought photography was an expensive hobby!

i fly RC planes and helicopters every weekend, and they're one of the reason i got into photgraphy. and you are defiently correct. with the money i have wrapped up in one plane i could buy my T2i 12.5 times over  its more of a legal addiction than a hobby :meh:

I still do, and you aren't kidding.... especially when you get into nitro & gasser heli's. Take your 70-200 and continuously toss it into the air.

I happened upon a group flying model planes in the park last spring--I keep a film slr in my car, "just in case," here's a few shots:

Very nice Djaco. I like them a lot.

Question: Does the angle on the last one that I shot bother anyone. A friend just brought it to my attention and I am not sure if I like it or not.

on the last pic. instead of using a motion blurr in photoshop you should trackit with a shutter speed around 250 to get a good real look.

I also build & fly (mostly build), but I suspended recently because I tend to photograph more. No time for both. I also took some picture of airplanes, including mine when poloted by an expert pilot that tested them.
I like the girl picture, but it would have been better with the airplane more in focus. On the contrary, the Funjet launch picture would have gained by a reduced DoF, to blur background a little.
I like also the combat scene by djaco.

model planes are always cool, but always afraid of crashing those things...... expensive hobby
