Model Test w/ Alexandra

Sorry for the repost :/ i had a similar thread in the B+W section ( got no love/c&c and didn't know how to delete the thread ) and figured it probably belonged in this section instead.

Started doing tests in a new studio this week, been working with a bunch of different styles. Here's one from my shoot with Alexandra earlier this week. Haven't had much time to go through the rest just yet.

This is pretty unappealing to me. The perspective makes her look wildly distorted. My guess is you were trying to accentuate her legs, and you sure succeeded. They look pretty freakish. The cut off boots/feet are not not always a problem for me, mostly I don't care about that sort of formalism. Here, though, they make it clear that what we're supposed to be looking at is the girl's crotch.

It generally comes off as mildly to moderately skeezy.

The blacks are pushed down too far, as well. The whole thing looks dark, which could be moody except that the model's pose and the camera angle aren't saying "moody" they're saying "skeezy".

She's pretty hot, and is both well styled and good at posing for a "steamy" look. I think you've got some visual ideas here, which could work well if you lose some of the skeezy and pushed harder at moodily erotic. Push the erotic down and make it an understated subtext. Don't worry, she'll make it clear.

^ I agree. I also think you shouldn't have cut off her feet, and the lighting in the background is uneven. Good work though!

In addition to whats been said - boot strings a distraction, something going on top left of frame, shirt could be considered a distraction unless its a fashion shoot for a specific noisy, distracting shirt

This could have worked, but having her feet cut off puts way too much emphasis on her crotch. Which, IMO, makes it look kinda trampy. Leave a little to be desired. Don't sell it all for free. Next time, get her all in the frame and see what you come up with. You are on to something though.

This shot looks odd. I think its the distortion from the wide angle used. Her legs look unusually long. Lighting is nice though.
