Brought back memories...seeing the rec. and alt. hierarchies and the listings! Ahhh, Usenet....I kind of miss it. It's surprising that Usenet dropped off so,so fast, but all of the big money poured into the web kind of shifted that early trajectory toward places like...TPF!

Nice find, snerd! I sure enjoyed hearing those old, schreechy, scritchy dial-up modem tones, and that clattery keyboard's sound...oh! How wonderful!

Just last week I was telling my young son that we used to have to "Dial up" the Internet--that it was no continually "on" 24/7/365 (unless one is a Comcast customer, then those numbers plummet). He had a difficult time grasping the idea of dial-up service.

My son (34) still cracks up when I describe having only 3 television stations in my early years! And 8-track tapes! And............ well, just about everything LOL!!
