What's new

Mommy Daughter time fun! C&C Please. :)

You have some really cute ideas here. I just wish you would of thought out your backgrounds a little more. I think the parking lot kinda ruins some of your shots.

In #3 she is such a cutie!!
Keep shooting.

C&C per req:

I think you've covered most of the issues with the images; it's a clever and cute set, although I'm not really sure that the monochrome conversion works. Other than #1 needed to be leveled, the only thing that keeps these from being a really strong group is the location and background. If you re-shot these in an appropriate area, with a nice shallow DoF, I think you'd have some winners.

~Just my $00.02 worth - your mileage may vary.

Perhaps consider desaturating her hair a bit in #1? It looks unusually red.

I actually chose the parking lot. Not saying it was the wisest choice. Lol. I wanted kind of a whimsical shopping feel.

I think I might need to rework #1 all together. Lol.

Thanks for the input guys!

Adorable stuff! She's so cute!

Ty tirediron. I will reconsider the location and see what I can come up with. My reflector stand kept blowing over so I resorted to flash and I wish I wouldn't have. :(

With the flash I could only go up to 1/200 which meant bumping aperture to 4 inmost cases. I'm sure there was something I could have done about dof but I was unsure. Learning in progress. ;)

Oh derrel! I know she's cute and I know you've got harsher c&c! ;)

Thanks guys!

Not sure if the XS has High Speed Flash Sync, but it's something to look into. Allows you to go above 1/200.

Also, I agree with the background comments. I don't see 'shopping' in these at all, for all we know it's a apartment parking lot.

Maybe I should have done the mall in the background but I feared too busy.

Ill look into the high speed sync when I get home. Were taking my son to the neurologist about his seizures. The forums are helping me relax. :)

Any suggestions on a different background? Would an open field have been better?

I'm gonna get her decked out in her cowgirl boots and hat etc and do a shoot soon. :)

+1 on the HSS. And put the sun directly behind her. Shoot wide open.

I would have to agree that number 3 is the best .. and yes the parking lot distracts from the other photos ...

Nice start though .. keep them coming!

love #3, lighting and everything looks good to me, her eyes look great too. #4 is probably my favorite! very fun and like the edit.

This is pretty much a re-make of the Morton's Girl image - I see two backgrounds working for this; (1) Along a shop-lined street (nb: shops on a street, NOT a shopping mall), or (2) a path along a stream or small lake.

Good(ish) news from the neurologist.

Maybe I can go out and shoot again soon. :)

WTF--I thought the parking lot WAS THE HOOK!!!!!! I've seen quite a few high fashion shots done in parking lots, with urban clothes...she's wearing fashionable, new-style kids' clothing...she's a city girl...I mean, an open field and that outfit makes no sense whatsoever, wheareas the parking lot says "urban pre-teen girl on a larky fashion shoot"...
