so im looking to start selling some of my photos at local swap meets crafts shows ect. here is my question im thinking bout donating a portion of what i make to the ronald McDonald house and/or have a donation bin set up is that an ok thing to do? i dont need permission from them do i?

Well you don't need permission to give to a charity - but chances are if you are collecting you will need some official capacity (some bit of paper) mostly as proof to others that you are a genuin collecter and not just taking the givings for yourself.
It certianly can't be a bad thing to contact them with regard to this

Yeah, you should contact them more for the purpose of lending yourself legitimacy rather than being obligated to. In addition, charitable donations are tax-deductible in the US, so people may want some sort of official-looking receipt.
