I spent the day chasing Ospreys around trying to get the Dive and the fish grab. I didn't spend much time processing so forgive me for the noise in a few.

Nice shots, I like the first and last ones. - they are both wall hangers for me.

Nice shots the last is the best IMO, a really tough shot to get.

Excellent shots! #2 is a little unusual, don't see them in a stoop too often! I like it!

Thanks everyone! I have spent more hours than I can count practicing and waiting for shots like these. My lesson from yesterday is watch the feet. They can glide around forever, but when they see a fish they lower their legs, then it is time to be ready.

CG, I have many similar shots it is really hard to track them when they start their dive, especially if the back ground changes... But it sure is cool catching a keeper!!

Yep.. they can MOVE!!!! lol!

The first one looks like he is "chasing" you and not the other way around.

Thanks premo!

They always seem very inquisitive, I'm guessing they catch the light reflecting off the lens. They like to circle around and have a closer look. I'm always happy when I catch them looking straight at the camera and the sun lights up their eyes :)

I have quite a few pics of Ospreys but never seem to manage the catching of the fish.

Looks like that osprey has caught an average-sized American shad. Shad school up in positively HUGE numbers at times during their spawning runs. Shad spawn free-form, broadcasting eggs and milt right into the water, and do not make redds like so many other fish do. Shad have a LOT of small bones in them, and are quite oily; imagine a 1.5 to 2.5 pound oversized sardine...stinky...silvery-scaled...oil-packed light-colored white flesh....mmmmm...osprey treat!!!!!!

That is a nice set! Number 3 is simply brilliant!

Very nice set

Thanks shef and MS!

Derrel, I'm pretty sure it is a snapper bluefish. If it was a shad it would be all silver. It has a blue back and forked tail and they were breaking the water all around me. Here's another shot were you can see the fish better.
